Q: How long will my order take?
A: Each piece is made by hand and generally takes 2-3 weeks. I ship via USPS insured priority mail to anywhere in the US at a flat rate of $7.50 per order. For international orders see below. Prior to major holidays such as Mother's Day we all work extra hours so production times are much quicker but it is still recommended that you order as early as possible. Thank you.
Q: I placed an order but I'm not sure that it went through. Now What?
A: When you place an order you can be certain it went through if you get to a page with a little charm that says "Thank You" on it. Shortly after your order is placed you should receive an e-mail receipt. If both of these things happen than all is well.
If you get to the page with the "Thank You" charm but do not get an e-mail confirmation your order did go through but the e-mail receipt did not make it through the spam filters. Please contact me and I can try to send it to you from another address and/or you can supply me with another e-mail address to send it to.
If you did not make it to the page with a little charm that says "Thank You" your order did not go through and your card was not charged. It may be that you did not click the last confirmation button on the bottom of the page so please try to place your order again. If this does not work it is most likely a browser issue in which case the best thing to do is to call in your order at 508.709.9566. (Phone Order Hint: If you add the items you want to your cart and then use the check boxes and add them to your wishlist your items will be saved and it makes ordering over the phone a breeze.)
Q: Can you do rush orders?
A: Often I can, sometimes I can’t. It depends on what you want, whether I have the components in stock and how soon you need it. I will try to accommodate rush orders but in the event that I can’t get it there in time I can send a gift card that lets the recipient know that a the gift has been ordered for them and will be arriving shortly. If you need an order in a hurry please add your items to a wishlist and "ask the designer" or call 508.709.9566 or e-mail and I will let you know if I think it's possible. There may be extra charges for rush shipping.
Q: Do you offer Gift Wrap?
A: There is no need to gift wrap! Your order will arrive in a beautiful custom designed 3-part gift box made from recycled eco-friendly materials and tied with a pretty blue ribbon. If you would like to include a gift note please use order comments to let us know how you would like it to read. For more information about our packaging and shipping please read our Green Initiatives Page.
Q: Are gift certificate or gift cards available?
A: Yes, gift certificates are available in any amount. I also have a “gift card” for orders that can not arrive in time for a specific date. This card can be sent to either the gift giver or directly to the recipient. It let’s them know that a custom gift has been ordered for them and will be arriving shortly. Place your order and then use order comments, e-mail or call to receive your gift card. Please let me know how you would like the "from" field to read.
Q: Do you have any tips for creating a great charm necklace?
A: Yes. First, do not hesitate to pick up the phone and call. Another option is to use the Wishlist feature. You can then e-mail your wishlist to me and let me know that you'd like feedback. Getting a great charm necklace is a cross between your personal taste, the content (names or initials, birth dates, birthstones, anniversaries, meaningful symbols, etc) and the balance of the charms - what I call "hang". It is hard to give specific advice without finding out a little bit more about your content and taste. Some combinations of shapes and sizes work better than others. The gallery is full of examples of my favorite combinations. Take a look and then shoot me an e-mail or give me a ring (508.709.9566). I will take a look and get back to you with any suggestions. For phone calls just keep in mind I am on the East Coast.
Q: Can you make charms in Gold?
A: Yes. E-mail me for a price quote.
Q: How do I care for my jewelry?
A: It is best to remove your jewelry before showering or swimming*. When you are not wearing your piece keep it the clear anti-tarnish bag it arrives in. Although fine silver doesn’t tarnish quickly sterling silver chains and ear wires will.
Most pieces have a patina which creates the black areas on your piece. To clean your piece only use dry polishing cloths meant for silver. One cloth will be included with your order. You can purchase similar types of dry polishing cloths at any home store. If you use a dip or creme polish the patina will be removed.
*If you do, say… wear it to an overchlorinated waterpark and splash around in it all weekend…Not to worry you can send it back and we can give it quick refinish and it will look like new again. Just shoot an e-mail for details & instructions.
Q: What are your charms made from? How does it differ from Sterling Silver?
A: I use Fine silver or .999FS which is pure silver. Sterling silver or .925 silver is typically mixed with copper and other metals. Both have advantages. Sterling Silver is harder than Fine Silver. Fine Silver tarnishes very slowly and then only slightly. Using Fine Silver for my pieces gives me much more creative flexibility and allows me to make each piece truly an original. Every piece is “work-hardened” for maximum strength.
Q: Do you further customize pieces? I’d like a variation that I don’t see on your site.
A: I love doing custom work. For the website I needed to create “product lines” so that items could easily be ordered. If you want something you don't see here just call or e-mail and I will be happy to work with you one-on-one to create your piece. Check out the Custom Design page for more information and ideas.
Q: What is your return policy?
A: Each piece is custom made and therefore non-refundable. I do however want you to be completely happy with your piece. If you have any problems please call me and we will work together until you are satisfied.
Q: What is your repair policy?
A: Other than your chain there are not many breakable parts on your necklace. If any part of your necklace, with the exception of the chain, should break within 90 days of receiving it please send it back and I will repair or replace it free of charge. After that a nominal fee plus return shipping may be the charged.
Q: What is your repair policy for chains?
A: I take great care in making your chain. Each one is cut to your specified length, the ends are fulled soldered for maximum strength and then finished to best match your chosen charms. If your chain should break within the 1st 30 days just send it back and I will repair it free of charge. After the 1st 30 days I charge $20 plus 7.50 shipping to repair and refinish your chain. Bead chains can not be repaired due to the nature of the way they are made and therefore can only be replaced.
Q: Can you ship internationally?
A: Yes, I can ship internationally to most countries. Please e-mail me with your full address to find out if shipping is available and for a shipping quote. Canadian orders are $33 and can be ordered directly via the website without a quote. All import tarriffs are the buyers responsibilty.
Q: What makes your Organic Charms “Organic”?
A: I get this question quite a bit. I mean “organic” in the fine arts sense of the word; shapes with a natural look and a flowing, curving appearance. I use the geometric shapes - rectangle, circle, and oval- as the basis for my charms but since they are handmade the outcome tends to be organic in nature.
