Heart and Stone's Green Initiatives

In both my business and home life reducing our family's environmental impact is very important to me. Whenever possible I source environmentally friendly materials.

METALS: Whether it be fine silver or sterling silver I do my best to use recycled material whenever possible. The silver used in the charms and rings comes from a variety of sources; X-rays, film stock, CT films, electronics, jewelery, coins, etc.

Much of the silver used today is reclaimed however items such as chain, wire and other small findings may or may not be made from all or partially recycled sources. To date I have not been able to find a vendor that uses only 100% recycled silver to manufacture their findings. I am always on the look out.

PACKAGING: When designing my gift boxes I wanted to find just the right materials from vendors who share my concerns. Your charm necklace will arrive in my custom gift box made from environmentally friendly sources and by companies, such as Ecological Fibers, Inc, that employ environmentally sound manufacturing processes.

SHIPPING: Your box is packed with peanuts made from starch that are 100% biodegradable, water-soluble and can be composted. For shipping I choose the US Postal Service. They have earned Cradle to Cradle Certification for environmentally-friendly design and manufacturing of their boxes. In addition they currently have the largest civilian alternate fuel vechicle fleet in the nation.
